A day after the Buffalo Bills fired offensive coordinator Rick Dennison, they’ve graciously allowed another to step away for bigger opportunity in Vice President of Player Personnel Brian Gaine.
According to multiple reports including ESPN and NFL Network, Gaine will move back to the Houston Texans to fill their vacant general manager position. Speculation about the move grew throughout the past week.
Additionally, the Texans handed head coach Bill O’Brien a four-year extension. Gaine, who signed a reported five-year deal, and O’Brien have the same contract length.
Prior to joining the Bills, Gaine interviewed for the vacant GM position in western New York before Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula, along with head coach Sean McDermott who was already in place, went with Brandon Beane over Gaine and others.
However, Gaine, who at the time was with the Houston Texans as their Director of Player Personnel jumped over to Buffalo in what was a dubbed a “lateral” move.
Gaine, a Pearl River, NY native, moved closer to home by making the lateral job move to Buffalo. Now Gaine moves back to Texas wielding an increase in power with the Texans.
Experiences Gaine has includes supervision of all pro player evaluation, the advance scouting process, free agency and the monitoring of player transactional movement in all professional leagues while with the Texans.
