Latest from Sean McDermott on LeSean McCoy, other injury updates (video)

ORCHARD PARK — Question number one: What is the health status of LeSean McCoy, Sean?
That was the jist of the first question sent in the direction of Buffalo Bills (9-7) head coach Sean McDermott on Wednesday in Orchard Park.
“Day-to-day,” is all McDermott said, later adding the McCoy, who’s suffering from an ankle sprain, will not practice on Wednesday.
On Monday, McDermott said the team received good news in regard to McCoy’s injury.
On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported that McCoy would be a “game-time decision” and “close call” for Sunday’s playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (10-6).
“We’re just going to take it one day at a time right now,” McDermott said.
If McCoy can’t go, it’ll be a big blow to the Bills offense. Recent call up from the practice squad, Marcus Murphy, and veteran Mike Tolbert will have to fill Shady’s big shoes.
“Well (Murphy’s) a player that Brandon (Beane) had scouted and like I mentioned before he has expereince in this league, he’s had varsity reps before, both on the offensive side and special teams,” McDermott said. “He’s been out there before and I thought he handled himself well this weekend.”
You can never replace a guy like LeSean, but I have a lot of confidence in Tolbert and Murphy,” McDermott added.
McDermott also mentioned how McCoy will be a difficult player to convince to not play.
“He’s a fierce competitor. He’ll maximize himself on treatment opportunities throughout the week,” McDermott said.
Other injury updates from McDermott on Wednesday. Here’s who will not practice:
- LB Matt Milano (hamstring)
- OL Jordan Mills (ankle)
- DT Kyle Williams (rest)
- Deonte Thompson (back/ shoulder)
- CB Shareece Wright (concussion)
