Bills sign RB insurance to practice squad in Aaron Green

ORCHARD PARK — With LeSean McCoy’s game status in question, the Buffalo Bills (9-7) have added a new running back to the practice squad ahead of Sunday’s playoff meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Bills added Aaron Green to their practice squad on Tuesday afternoon. Safety LJ McCray was released from the practice squad to make room for him.
If McCoy can’t go, Green, veteran Mike Tolbert, and Marcus Murphy, who was promoted from the practice squad last week would attempt to fill his shoes.
Green signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2016 and spent part of 2017 with the Dallas Cowboys on their practice squad. Green spent two games on the Rams roster but has not recorded a carry in the NFL.
In Buffalo’s season finale 22-16 win against the Miami Dolphins, Murphy had 41 yards on seven carries (5.9 avg) while Tolbert had 39 yards on seven carries of his own.
On Monday Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott said McCoy “has a chance” and added the team received “good news” in terms of his ankle injury. Meanwhile, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that a team source told him McCoy has a spraned ankle and is a “game-time decision” and “close call” on Tuesday.
McDermott will address the media at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. McCoy typically speaks to the media on Wednesday’s in the afternoon following practice.
NOTES: On Monday, Buffalo added WR Rod Streater, who impressed during training camp before a toe injury during the preseason, signed a reserves/ futures contract.
