ORCHARD PARK — It was a bit of a surprise when Buffalo Bills wide receiver Jordan Matthews was shut down for the season, being placed on injured reserve.
On Dec. 5 the Bills (7-6) ended his first and possibly only season with the club after the team traded for him in a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
For weeks prior to his shut down, Matthews had dealt with knee injuries but played through the pain.
On Thursday via his Twitter page, Matthews indicated he had surgery on his injured knee, but also had surgery on his ankle. Matthews had 25 catches for 282 yards and a touchdown before being shut down.
