Latest injury news: Clay, Thompson, Matthews in, Benjamin out for Bills; Chiefs’ Revis will not play
Updated (12:32 a.m.) – Late night news for the Buffalo Bills is good and apparently late night news for the Kansas City Chiefs is bad.
After an earlier report just before midnight which stated that wide receiver Deonte Thompson, wide receiver Jordan Matthews, and tight end will play for the Bills (5-5) on Sunday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported that KC (6-4) cornerback Darrelle Revis will not play.
Revis, signed on Tuesday, simply is not yet ready to play, according to Schefter.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Injury updates on the offensive side of the ball for the Buffalo Bills continue to roll in and there’s some good news.
The Bills (5-5) announced early Saturday that the team would be without wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin on Sunday as he battles a knee injury.
But a nightcap came with some positive. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Bills will have the services of wide receivers Deonte Thompson and Jordan Matthews, along with tight end Charles Clay.
Clay in particular has been a go-to target for quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who returns to his starting spot after being benched by head coach Sean McDermott prior to last week’s game against the Chargers, which Buffalo lost 54-24.
Here are previous updates on the both the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs’ (6-4) injury reports:
ORCHARD PARK – The Buffalo Bills will be missing a key piece of on offense on Sunday.
Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin was ruled out by the Bills (5-5) on Saturday, one day ahead of their meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs (6-4) on the road at Arrowhead Stadium.
Benjamin sustained a knee injury early in last week’s 54-24 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Safety Adrian Phillips hit Benjamin in his right knee, causing a slight hyper extension. On Friday, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott labeled Benjamin as questionable for Sunday’s game.
Along with Benjamin, Buffalo has three other passing-game weapons listed as questionable.
